Division of Immunology and Organ Transplantation
The Division has pioneered immunosuppression research, having been a leader in the development of cyclosporine and being the first to administer rapamycin to humans in the drug’s clinical trials and to apply a mathematical model to document the synergistic effects of this drug combination, leading to FDA approval.

Training Program
The Organ Transplantation Centers at our affiliated hospitals are some of the busiest in the country. Under the fellowship program, surgeons are trained in the fields of kidney and pancreas transplantation, with opportunities to participate in both inpatient and outpatient care, as well as clinical and basic science research.
